It wasn’t too long ago that you could find a new Subaru Tribeca in our showroom here at Brilliance Subaru. While the Tribeca did an excellent job of filling a niche in the seven-passenger crossover market, one which is popular with families here in the Crystal Lake and Elgin area, it didn’t sell particularly well, and so it went out of production back in January of 2014. Subaru isn’t planning to drop the concept of the three-row crossover from its lineup altogether, however, so a new seven-passenger model is on the way!New, Larger SUV Coming From Subaru
The new seven-seat Subaru model will be aimed squarely at the United States market. It will compete directly against the Toyota Highlander, the Nissan Pathfinder, and the Honda Pilot, but it will obviously be distinctly Subaru. There’s little doubt that it will offer standard Subaru all-wheel drive and will be available with the sophisticated EyeSight preventative safety systems. It will also be manufactured in the Subaru plant in Indiana.
There’s little doubt about what the new largest Subaru will offer in terms of features. One question that even Subaru is probably asking itself is how the new SUV will look. Subaru actually sells a seven-passenger SUV in other markets called the Exiga. It’s not likely that Subaru would sell this vehicle in the United States, because while it does seat seven, it’s considerably smaller than many three-row crossovers on the market, and it has what can only be described as minivan-like proportions.
We think that the new Subaru crossover will borrow much of its styling from the latest 2015 Subaru Outback – albeit sized up – in order to fit into the current lineup. If you consider the Subaru Outback, the Subaru Forester, and the Subaru XV Crosstrek, you can see the family resemblance among all three. The largest unnamed model would no doubt borrow much of the current styling with a muscular silhouette, bold character lines and fender flares, big hexagonal grille, and similar lighting choices.
