The 2016 Subaru WRX has earned a reputation with Crystal Lake and Elgin, IL area drivers for its tire-scorching performance and incredible all-wheel drive handling. For 2016, the WRX gets an upgrade in an area that you might not expect: safety. The WRX will now be available with the sophisticated Subaru EyeSight preventative safety system.
The Subaru WRX STI: Now With EyeSight
The 2016 Subaru WRX can now be equipped with the famous Subaru EyeSight System. But before we get to what EyeSight can do for you, we want to point out the features that come standard on all WRX and WRX STI models. Every version of the WRX is equipped with:
- Traction and stability control
- Anti-lock disc brakes
- Electronic brake force distribution
- Brake assist
- Active front head restraints
- A rearview back-up camera
- Front seat side airbags
- Side curtain airbags
- A driver knee airbag
You can see that the Subaru WRX comes standard with many of the high-tech safety features that you want. So what happens when you add EyeSight?
The EyeSight system uses a set of stereo cameras mounted in the windshield to scan the road ahead. It adds adaptive cruise control, which automatically keeps a safe distance between you and the car ahead of you. It also adds a lane departure warning system to help keep you in your lane, as well as pre-collision throttle management and braking, to automatically help avoid collisions and reduce the chance of injury or damage.
The Subaru WRX is a Top Safety Pick+ award winner from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for 2016 thanks to the addition of these new preventative safety features. The IIHS gave it the best possible “Superior” rating in Front Crash Prevention, when equipped with EyeSight.
