Takata Airbag Recalls for 2003 - 2013, 2016-2017 Outback Models

While the newer Subaru Outback models are not scorned with this recall, many Subaru owners of older models are receiving notification about the Takata Airbag recall. Over long periods, the airbags that are exposed to humidity and heat are at risk of exploding rather than inflating, leading to the death of passengers instead of acting as a safety feature. The passenger seats of these models were equipped with these imported airbags are owners are encouraged to not use the front passenger seat until the recall on their Subaru can be corrected. Nearly half a million Subaru models overall are affected by this recall, with the largest of those models being the Subaru Outback. This recall comes at the heels of other vehicle manufacturers requiring recalls of this airbag over the last few years.

Poor Quality Welds, 2019 Outback

With the 2019 model only a year old, the quality of the welds on the model body has been recalled due to improper placement to spot welds below the cowl panel. Upon federal inspection, it was determined that they were improperly placed on thousands of these models, which puts an infraction on the body strength of the model. During the manufacturing of the Outback model and others that were met with the dresser and should have been cleaned and then reshaped to fit the specific model. It was found that for several thousand vehicles, this process was not properly conducted, compromising the model of the Subaru Outback against its advertised safety features. This was something that was corrected for the 2020 Subaru Outback models and is being recalled in those 2019 Outback models that were already purchased. Owners are encouraged to reach out to their service dealer to have this recall corrected right away for their safety.
