The base Outback is a two-row station wagon; the Outback comes with standard all-wheel drive and the accompanying X-Mode off-road driving setting.

Its StarLink Multimedia System consists of four speakers with an AM/FM radio tuner, Bluetooth, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration, and a trial subscription SiriusXM Radio, two USB ports, and a dual seven-inch touchscreen setup.

Six airbags provide restraint and cushioning, and driver safety aids include a rearview camera, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, and Steering-Responsive Automatic LED High-beam Headlights.

Outback Premium

At the Premium trim level, StarLink is boosted with two rear USB ports, HD Radio, two additional speakers, and an 11.6-inch touchscreen that replaces the dual seven-inch setup. Other upgrades include front-seat heating, 10-way power on the driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Outback Limited

The Limited gains more driver safety aids, including Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Change Assist. In addition, comfort and convenience are upgraded with leather seat trim, rear-seat heating, eight-way power on the front passenger seat, a hands-free power liftgate, proximity keyless entry, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system.

Outback Touring

As the range-topping trim, only the Touring comes with Nappa leather seat trim, front-seat cooling, steering-wheel heating, a moonroof, a navigation system, and driver distraction monitoring.

Outback XT

There's an "XT" variant lineup consisting of Onyx Edition XT, which stands out with its water-repellent synthetic leather seats, and black-finished 18-inch alloy wheels. Crystal Black Silica finishes on its side mirrors, which mirrors the Limited's standard features, with additions such as a moonroof and side-mirror power foldability Touring XT, which comes with all the standard features of the Touring model plus most available features on the Outback in general.
